The Northamptonshire village of King’s Sutton lies in the south of the county some 4 miles south east of Banbury. The village is close to the site of an Old Roman town called Blacklands and the name of the village means King’s South estate. The village held its own race meeting on Thursday 1st April 1841 in the presence of a small, select group of sportsmen. There was a two race programme, both races being Sweepstakes. Although there was a desire to repeat the event, this was the only time races were held in the village. |
